ICYMI: How Ekiti State Discovered A New Natural Tourism Site(Photos)

Over the years, tourism has been identified as a major source of revenue to develop the national economy. There have been stories of developed nations that have climbed the enviable status of socio-economic development and growth through the aid of tourism.

More so, it is established that tourism provides an avenue for education, social integration, relaxation among others. In this vein, not a few government establishments and private organizations worldwide that are putting up efforts to develop and maintain their tourism potentials as well as creating new ones.

The story of Ekiti State is not different in this regard. The state that is noted for the abundance of tourism potentials, notably the famous Ikogosi Warm Spring, Olosunta Hills among others has over the years determined to continuously develop these potentials to world-class levels.

It is a fact that with its natural resources, breathtaking landscape, and unique environmental conditions, ranges of tourism resources and opportunities are deposited in the state. In this regard outside the numerous ones which have been identified and tapped into, new ones are also being discovered.

In this direction, a new natural tourism site which will add to the global wonders in the universe has been recently discovered on a foot of a mountain along with Ado- Ekiti road, Iyin Ekiti, in Irepodun Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
The rock wonder, which looks like an amphitheater is found on Abanijorin Rock, one of the beautiful rocks that nature planted within the Iyin-Ekiti landscape is set to draw tourists to the state if the opportunity is well tapped into.

This rock is covered with a rock shelter and harbors a sequential arrangement of rock pebbles as seats capable of sitting 500 guests or audience during an event.

The natural amphitheater has an entry, an exit, air outlets   and a foyer where guests or audience can stand to have an awesome panoramic view of the state capital, Ado- Ekiti

The Senior Special Assistant on Tourism Development to the State Governor, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre, who made this disclosure during an interactive session in Lagos said he led a team of tourism enthusiasts to the site for verification and on the spot assessment. According to him, they were “all marveled at the unique  wonder of nature which the state harbors “

He disclosed that the site was discovered by one Pastor Bayode of Mount of Solutions and Power, an adjoining Prayer Mountain which is about two kilometers to the site. He thereafter informed a member of the state’s Tourism Development Team who later led a team on a hiking expedition within the rocky environment.

Ojo-Lanre said that a team from the Ekiti State Economic Research and Policy Documentation would be visiting the new site to take a visual inventory of the site for further attention and enhancement.
