NHIS: IGP Orders Nationwide Capturing Of Police Retirees
IGP has ordered nationwide capturing of police retirees.
News Rain gathered that President Muhammadu Buhari in his bid to make life more meaningful for the retired police officers in the country has given out an order through the Inspector General of Police that all retired officers should go for capturing to enable them key into the National Health Insurance Scheme, which will ease them off from burden of adequate health care service delivery challenges.
However, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu Adamu, has directed the nationwide registration and capturing of all retired police officers with effect from 7th September to 23rd September 2020.

The directives according to the IGP who made known the development to the public through the Force Headquarters Public Relations Officer, DCP Frank Mba, are said to be in line with the approval of the Federal Government of Nigeria for the enrolment of retired police officers on the National Health Insurance Scheme.
DCP Frank Uba in a statement that was made available to the pressmen stated that all retired officers irrespective of their rank as the time of retirement, alongside with their wife are to benefit from the National Health Insurance Scheme which is covered by the Police Health Maintenance Organization which is coded as (Police-HMO) CODE-073.
The capturing exercise, according to the statement shall be in three batches, and it has been scheduled to take place at the various Police Area Commands across the Country.

The statement further stated thus: “That All retired police officers are therefore required to visit any Police Area Command closest to them with the following basic requirements; National Identity Number (compulsory), Letter of Retirement and Retiree’s I.D Card.
“The nationwide registration/capturing exercise is scheduled as follows; Date: Monday, 7th September 2020 – Wednesday, 9th September 2020. North-West States;(Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Zamfara), North-East States; (Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba, and Yobe), the North-Central States “B”; (FCT and Nasarawa) Date: Monday, 14th September 2020 – Wednesday, 16th September 2020. The South-West States; (Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo), North-Central States “A”;

(Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, and Plateau) Date: Monday, 21st September 2020 – Wednesday, 23rd September 2020. The South-South States; (Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Delta, Rivers, and Bayelsa), South-East States; (Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo).”
The IGP however used the medium to commended and show appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR for extending the National Health Insurance Scheme to retired Police officers.
He stated that the Insurance health scheme will help address the long time yearning for affordable healthcare services delivery for Police retirees and enjoined the senior citizens to take optimum advantage it.
