Edo Election: Eight PDP Governors Join Obaseki’s Campaign Rally
Eight PDP Governors in Edo State have joined Obaseki’s campaign rally.
News Rain reports that not less than eight of the People’s Democratic Party Governors were on Tuesday, gathered in Edo State to rally supports for re-election of Governor Godwin Obaseki at the forthcoming gubernatorial election that is slated for Saturday.

The Governors which comprises of the Oyo State Engr. Seyi Makinde, Aminu Tambuwa of Sokoto, Cross River State, Ben. Ayade, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Gov. Emmanuel Udom of Akwa-Ibom, Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, Governor Nyeson Wike of River State, Abia State Governor Abia Ikpeazu, are in Edo to support the incubent Governor of the State to round off his re-election campaign.
The campaign rally which was held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin the Capital City of Edo State also had in attendance the PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha, Peter Obi, and many others.
In his address at the campaign, Gov. Obaseki said “We are very sure of victory, and our victory would bring to an end the rein of godfatherism”

Obaseki said I call on you, the good people of Edo State to arm yourself with your PVC and go to your polling boots and cast your vote to the PDP as a final burial of the godfathers in the state
“My people of the state, I want you to see Saturday, September 19 as a date with history for the simple reason that is going to be a date the political godfathers in Edo Politics would be finally buried finally.
“We will win this election because so far over 100 groups have endorsed me for the race. With groups like the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Trade Union Congress (TUC) Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) and other groups in the state behind me, tell me how we will lose the election?”

Obaseki noted that with the support of Edo people and endorsements by over 100 groups in the state, he is certain of victory in Saturday’s election in the state.
Governor Obaseki, however, urged Edo eligible voters to go out en masse to vote for him, he said “I urged all eligible voters in the state to come out en masse to vote the PDP to enable me to consolidate on the achievements I recorded in my first term.
“I don’t have anything to say to you my Edo people but to thank you; you have been wonderful especially as we went through the 192 wards to seek your support for reelection.
Obaseki called on Edo people to vote for him to put an end to Godfatherism in the State and Nigeria as whole.

He said “Democracy is not a government of godfathers but a government of the people, by the people and for the people. In Edo, we have been fighting godfatherism and by Saturday we will put an end to it, and after that go Lagos and put an end to godfatherism in Nigeria.
“The godfather that is disturbing Nigeria came up this morning because he is afraid, he knows that we will surely be in Lagos to claim the State for PDP after we might have successfully had Edo. Obaseki stressed.
Speaking also at the rally, is Governor Wike, who said, “If we must fight and put an end to godfatherism in Nigeria, it must start on Saturday in Edo State.
He said “The IGP has assured us of a secure election in Edo and the INEC chairman has also assured Edo people of a free, fair and credible election but don’t let us go and sleep with all these promises but stay awake and be vigilant and ensure that Obaseki wins.
“Obaseki must be voted for, to bring an end to godfatherism in Nigeria. The Edo election is important as it will show the way out to eliminate godfatherism in Nigeria.”

Governor Tambuwal of Sokoto in his speech at the rally called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure the conduct of a free, fair, and credible poll in the state.
He said: “I learnt they are coming to Edo with a bullion van; don’t sell your votes; vote and protect your votes, I am appealing to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a free, fair and credible election. I also want to appeal to all the security agencies not to intimidate anybody on election day. Even when you are being intimidated, don’t run home, stay back and protect your votes.
