Ondo Election: INEC Promise Improvement, Neutrality

INEC has promised neutrality and improvement during the Ondo guber poll.
News Rain gathered that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promised to maintain neutrality and also to improve on its standard at the forthcoming Ondo gubernatorial election.

What INEC Said About Ondo Election.

Prof. Yakubu Mammud, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission has assured Nigerians that the commission under his watch would maintain neutrality in the conduct of the Ondo State gubernatorial election.
Prof. Yakubu on Thursday while briefing newsmen in Akure on the forthcoming Ondo election slated to hold on the 10th of October noted that the commission would work on the lapses observed in the Edo State election with a view to improving on its performance.
Yakubu in Akure City, the Ondo State Capital stressed that the briefing is important and necessary because of the commitment of the commission towards achieving credible free, and fair election in the State.
He said ” I’m here to know about the observations of the stakeholders both in Edo election and the pre-election happenings in Ondo State that could help the commission in its preparation for the election.
Yakubu said the commission has delivered all non-sensitive materials for the election, he noted that all materials would arrive at the Central Bank of Nigeria in Akure on Monday where it would be distributed to all its branches.
Professor Yakubu affirmed that the  Commission has got over the challenges created by the fire outbreak that razed over 5000 smart card readers in the Akure office.
He said “We are fully recovered from the fire incident. We are purging and configuring the smart card readers ready for the election. They were moped up from Uyo.
“We are moving the Z-Pad from Edo to Ondo State for the 3009 polling units,”  said.
Prof. Mammud, while speaking on the level of some politicians and their violence attributes in the State, said that the commission would meet security agencies and traditional rulers with a view to stemming the crisis.
He said: “We are aware of the violence. We are meeting security agencies and traditional rulers to appeal to participating candidates and party leaders.
Yakubu noted that the Former President Abdulsalami Abubakar and other members of the Peace Accord Commission would arrive Akure on October 6, 2020, to sign Peace Accord with all candidates.”
Prof. Yakubu however called on all journalists covering the election to report to the commission any malpractice noticed through its media platform.
He however used the press briefing medium to assure all the 3009 polling units in the state, including the riverine area, would be adequately supplied with all necessary election materials, and voting would commence at the normal expected time.
