Reasons For Applauding Makinde Over Commitment On Youths Development-SDG Aide

Mr. Yusuff in a personal engagement with the
News Rain Nigeria on Tuesday evening took his time to analyzed his reasons for applauding Governor Seyi Makinde on youths’ development, saying that the Governor has over time shown a strong commitment to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Mr. Yusuff, who confirmed that though the Sustainable Development Goals was earlier initiated by the United Nations, quickly chipped in that the Engr. Makinde should be commended for his various youths oriented projects that are tailored towards the development of the youths.
The SSA on SDG also noted that I have to commend him as you can see he just after a town hall meeting with Stakeholders rolled out 500 Million Naira for Oyo State youths development Programme, Yusuff stressed that Governor by so doing has implemented six major Global Goals.
Mr. Kunle Yusuff said the Governor at the stakeholders meeting that was held on Monday at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, quoted Governor Makinde to have said that, as a result of the reduction in income of many, which was occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic and the recent #EndSARs protest, a N500 Million SMEs fund has been set up and the fund will be disbursed to youths who have excellent entrepreneur ideas to tackle unemployment rate in Oyo State.
The State SDG boss view is that with all these lofty programs for youths across the State, he is optimistic that Governor Makinde is an apostle of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Yusuff said, for Governor to have made himself available as a catalyst balance between the social pressure and self-limit, for his support for youths development across the State, he has reprimand speaks strongly for the SDGs, he is a voice to be reckoned with as far as SDGs is a concern in the State.
Mr. Kunle Yusuff also lauded Governor Makinde’s political will towards ensuring that every part of the State get desired democratic dividends, noted that he has pledged the readiness of his office to fulfill its part as a listening Governor of the State.
Yusuff said, “Governor Seyi Makinde has scored a milestone on SDGs, as he just announced the immediate commencement of 6 Major Global Goals by rolling out 500 million Niara for Oyo State Youth Developments Programme.
“We should also note that under his watch, the office of the SDGs has implemented 17 goals, 100 indicators, and 150 targets n the state.
So, I can say that I am happy to note that Oyo State Governor has been supportive of the SDGs. He has demonstrated leadership and a strong commitment to the implementation of SDGs. This is so because he is a man of the people and SDGs are about the people. Yusuff stated.
Mr. Yusuff further stressed that SDGs are a universal call for action to end poverty, safeguard our planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by the year 2030, saying “I’m happy that Oyo State is already toeing this path.”
He said “Youth Developments Initiative program is related to SDGs 6 major Global Goals; Goal 2(Hunger), Goal 4(Education), Goal 5(Genders Equality), Goal 8(Decent Work), Goal 10(Inequality) and Goal 13(Climate Change). Today’s generation of Adolescents and Young People(Between 10 and 24 years) is close to 3.6 million people in Oyo State.
Yusuff maintained that the 2030 SDGs Global Agenda may not be attainable if Government at all levels, International Development Agencies, and Civil Society Organisations do not actively participate in tackling Youth Challenges.
The SDG boss however called on the Federal Government to ensure adequate budgetary provision to the program in the Pacesetter State.
Yusuff made use of the media interaction to ask the Federal Government to increase its funding to SDGs and increase budget performance particularly when it comes to SDG because it deals directly with people and touches those who feel rejected.
Mr. Yusuff however called for the patience of residents of the State, explained that,
adding that there is a need for connectivity between SDGs and the people, which will improve the livelihood of the people.
He said, with all these achievements of Governor Makinde, are the reasons for someone like me to be commending him, and I’m doing this based on his vision he has for the State, especially in the area of empowerment of young people and investment in agriculture.”
