Delta State Government has reacted to an unknown disease that kills 15 people.
News Rain Nigeria reports that the Delta State Government on Saturday through the State Ministry of Health has reacted to the unknown disease that has killed not less than 15 persons in Ute Okpu and Idumesa Communities in Ika North- East Local Government Area of Delta State.

The ravaging epidemic was gathered to have started about two weeks ago, and as a result, has claimed a lot less than 15 lives.
While reacting to the ugly incident, Dr. Mordi Ononye the State Commissioner for Health, stressed that the State government is making all possible efforts to ensure that the disease is well managed, to prevent further spread of it.
Dr. Mordi who was on a tour assessment to assess the level of things at the affected communities said that the State Government has received information on the mysterious deaths in Ute Okpu and Idumesa communities of Ika North East Local Government Area of the State which prompted the Governor, His Excellency, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, to direct the State Ministry of Health to immediately investigate these deaths, identify the causes and effective containment measures”.
The News Rain Nigeria gathered the mysterious disease that has claimed the lives of over 15 persons within the 18 to 25 years age bracket in the past 2 weeks.
Dr. Mordi said that the Governor has given a directive to upgrade the Comprehensive Health Center in Ute -Okpu to a full-fledged Hospital.
He then called on members of the community and residents of the State to observe good hygiene as the dry season approaches by properly covering their food, cutting grasses around their surroundings.
However, the State Epidemiologist, Dr. Richard Ikwuogu, stressed that his office has sent some health officers to the community immediately after the information got the Ministry of Health, stressing that the active case search that commenced the previous day continues.
Dr. Ikwuogu said that his team has visited the families of the affected persons in the community and also the case in the hospital in Umunede, collected their samples, and interviewed them.
