The Oluwo of Iwo, Abdul Rasheed Akanbi has declared to lead the next #EndSARS protest
News Rain Nigeria gathered that the monarch in Osogbo during an interactive program organized by the Osun State government tagged “Osun #EndSARS Aftermath Stakeholders’ Engagement” said that he will lead the next protest if youths approached him whenever the need arises.
According to him, he was ready to lead the youth in any genuine protest as a way to make their demands get to the authorities concerned. Adding that a protest like the just concluded #EndSARS without leadership will not work.
He said: “Next time, if you want to organize a protest and you don’t have anyone to lead you, you may be afraid that they may kill you or you are afraid of being arrested, come to me, I will lead the protest.
“There is no way you can organize protest without leadership. You must give room for dialogue because it is the leadership that will eventually sit down and discusses with the government. That is the only way you can fight and get your demands to the government.”
Meanwhile, Oba Akanbi also opined that whatever the reason for the protest is, organizers must always be ready to negotiate with the government.
He said, “a reasonable way to organize protest is to be ready for dialogue with the government.”
