Ooni’s 5th Coronation Anniversary: Sultan, Alaafin, Olubadan, Others Laud Him For Unity, Peace Campaign
Sultan of Sokoto, Alaafin of Oyo others have prayed for Ooni of Ife, as he celebrates the 5th Coronation Anniversary.
News Rain Nigeria reports that the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar speaking during the 5th Coronation Anniversary of Ooni of Ife, on Friday 27 November 2020, at the Premier Hotel Ibadan, the Capital City of Oyo State prayed for Ooni of Ile – Ife, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi Ojaja II for long reign on the throne as his forefathers.
The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar also commended the Ooni of Ile- Ife, over his Unity, love Campaign across the Country.

Sultan Abubakar also made use of the event to called on all leaders to close ranks, he maintained that all leaders across facets of lives should close ranks and avoid being misled by vanity of the world.
Sa’ad Abubakar described the Ooni as young and energetic but highly intelligent Monarch.
He said, I commend Ooni Ogunwusi for his roles in ensuring unity among Nigerians, saying, “what you don’t know is that we have a lot of things in common. Out of 14 years I have spent on the throne, he became king five years ago and he has visited me in Sokoto five times”.
Sultan said: “He came with so much energy at such an age that some people thought it might be difficult for him to handle the enormity of the throne, but God helped him. So far, my friend has been doing right”.
Alhaji Abubakar also charged all the traditional, religious and cultural leaders in and across Nigeria to close ranks and avoid being misled by “vanity of the world”.
Abubarkar however urged Ooni to continue doing good irrespective of the criticism he might encounter while discharging his duty.
The Emir maintained that anyone in a leadership position and who failed to do the needful will be accountable to Almighty Allah.
While speaking also at the event, the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi said: My present prayer is that the Almighty God will endow you with strength and benevolence which some of us enjoyed and are still enjoying. I will only appeal to Kabiyesi(Ooni) to be unrelenting in his efforts through the Unity, peace, and love campaign across Nigeria.
Alaafin prayed for long reigns of Ooni on the throne of his forefathers, he said, Awujale has clocked 65 years on the throne and he(Alaafin) will clock 50 years on the throne by January 15, God will give the Ooni longer years than some of the kings.
Alaafin commends Sultan for his courage with his comments that North is the most difficult place to live in the country, stressing that he agreed totally with Alhaji Abubakar that North is a very difficult place to live in the country.
Alaafin said: You spoke truth to the authority that the worst place that is difficult to live in is the North. I commend your courage for saying that to the authority. Just after you said that a traditional ruler was killed”.
Speaking also at the event, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji who spoke through his Personal Assistant, Mr. Deola Oloko encouraged Ooni to continue promoting unity and redouble his efforts at making peace.
The epoch event had in attendance the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, Oloye Alaba Lawson, Iyalode of Egbaland, Oba Gbolahan Lawal, Oniru of Oniruland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Ademola, Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi kingdom, Chief Abiodun Duro-Ladipo, wife of late Chief Duro Ladipo popularly called Sango, Mr. Gbenga Adefaye, Editor-in-Chief, Vanguard Newspapers, former Minister of Communication, Barrister Adebayo Shittu, Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun and Oloye Lekan Balogun, Ekefa Olubadan of Ibadanland, among other.
The Ooni of Ife, while in his remarks, expressed his gratitude to God for granting him the grace to witness the day in sound health.
Ooni, prayed that God should give him such a strength that Alaafin has, that after 50 years on the throne, he is still very agile, saying, within five years on the throne, he has experienced a lot, adding, prior to his installation as the Ooni, he had planned to strengthen cord of unity between him and Alaafin.
Ooni Ogunwusi stressed that many wonders why we came to Ibadan to celebrate this when Ile-Ife is there, I told them Yoruba land belongs to all of us. We started the celebration from Ibadan because Premier Hotel is our common heritage.”
