Prince Ade Omole stressed that for peace and equity to reign within the party in general, the party members need to support the zoning agenda.

While addressing journalists in Abuja on the zoning arrangement, Prince Omole stressed that though not the zoning issue was not encapsulated in the constitution of the ruling party is a good idea that should be given serious consideration as the party strategizes for the coming electoral cycle.

Omole said,  Now, as we know, it (presidency) has been in the North and hopefully, it will come to the South this time around. We have read reports about chieftains from both sides of the divide saying that the North is having it for eight years, it is time for the South to have it for another eight years. So, it is a gentleman’s agreement that should continue for the greatness of the country. It is the right thing to do and we believe that that will happen come 2023.

Omole maintained that the zoning arrangement will enable everybody to have a shot at the presidency and contributes to the greatness of the country.

He said: “We have a President and a government that is actually responsive, at least in terms of the economy because if it wasn’t that responsive like I can tell you that by now, only God knows where we would be. I did mention that as of today, we have just increased from 500, 000 to 1 million N-Power Youths that will be employed. That means that this same government despite the challenges is still trying even though with low income, the economic issues brought upon us by COVID-19 we are still trying to survive and we will overcome this”.

“We all know that zoning is not part of the constitution of the party but it is an arrangement that was put in place for fairness. As for me, zoning has been in our political environment for a very long time and I believe it should continue as long as the party actually agrees with it.

“So, at the end of the day, it is the party that will actually decide what zone the presidency or whatever office goes to. We also believe in the position of the party and we will keep doing that.

“There are few divergent views regarding zoning but personally, I believe it is the right thing to do. It is a step in the right direction and it just gives everybody a chance to actually have a shot at the presidency or any other office in the country.

Prince Omole, who also doubles as the Chairman of the Diaspora Voting Council and leader stressed that it is the right thing for Nigerian Community in the UK maintained that zoning, although a gentleman agreement, has an inherent benefit for the polity as it gives all the sense of belonging.

He said the present administration has done well in trying to fix the economy despite pulling it into two cycles of recession in five years.

Omole noted that Nigeria is not the only country now in recession due in part to the debilitating effect of COVID 19. He said the administration has responded positively with measures that restore confidence in the economy and solicited the support of citizens.
