Many were injured today, as APC, PDP supporters clash at Tribunal.

News Rain Nigeria reports that there was pandemonium at the High Court Road, Akure, the Ondo State capital, as the supporters of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party engaged in free for all on Tuesday.

The fight took place outside the Ondo State High Court Complex, Akure, the venue of the Ondo State Election Petitions Tribunal.

According to an eyewitness, the residents and the shop owners in the area had to run for their lives as the political supporters were fighting each other, using dangerous weapons.

It was gathered that for almost an hour, there was no vehicular movement in the area as a result of the crisis.

This happened when the election petition tribunal held its inaugural sitting on the petition filed by the candidate of the PDP in the October 10 governorship election, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, who is challenging the victory of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the APC in the election.

Some members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) who were suspected to be loyalists of All Progressive Congress (APC) stormed the Court to prevent further judgement, saved the day.

The quick arrival of the military and other security agencies in response to call for reinforcements saved the situation.

Charles Titiloye, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, was prevented from addressing the tribunal as he was a tainted amicus(could only be seen but not heard) in the matter.

“One of the hoodlums broke a bottle and stabbed me on the face. They are members of NURTW who are supporters of APC.”

Soldiers, policemen and other security agents chased away the hoodlums, put an end to the alleged plan to beat up judges of the tribunal and set ablaze the structure housing the tribunal.

Consequently, the chairman of NURTW was prevented from entering the court premises.
