Gunmen Kidnap Taraba Lawmaker From His Home

Gunmen on Wednesday kidnapped Barr. Bashir Mohammed, the member representing Nguroje Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly.

 

News Rain gathered that on Wednesday, unknown gunmen kidnapped the lawmaker. The Chairman House Committee on Information was reportedly picked up from his residence behind Dr Jalo Eid prayer ground in Jalingo at about 1:45 am.

A family source who preferred anonymity, said that during the ordeal, there was no interference by any security operative to stop their operation.

As at the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer, David Misal is yet to confirm the abduction of Bashir Mohammed.

The source also disclosed that during the operation which lasted for about three hours, there was no interference by any security operative to stop their operation.

David Misal, spokesman of the police command in Taraba, said they are making efforts to rescue Mohammed.

He said: “We are aware and working towards his rescued,” Misal.

News Rain Nigeria also gathered that no member of Mohammed’s family was hurt in the process.

Recall that Bashir joined the list of Taraba lawmakers who have been kidnapped in recent years.

In January 2018, Hosea Ibi, a lawyer who represented Takum II Constituency in the Taraba State House of Assembly, was found dead after he was abducted by gunmen on the 30th of December 2017.
