Fayemi Calls For Allocation Sharing Formular

Fayemi has called for sharing formular in favour of the states.

 

News Rain Nigeria report that the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has called for review of allocation sharing formular in the Country.

Dr. Fayemi speaking in Ibadan the Oyo State Capital during Senator Abiola Ajimobi Round-table and First Posthumous Birthday, said the there should be a review of the allocation sharing formular with states having more percentage than the rest tiers of government.

Fayemi while deliberating on the theme of the event, titled ” States and the Burden of National Development in Nigeria”,  stressed that both the State and the Local Government should have at least 65 percentage of the allocation while the Federal Government should take 35 percentage because of its lesser responsibilities to both the State and the Local Government Authorities.

Fayemi further said that the review of the sharing formular becomes necessary as more responsibilities of the citizenry, especially the people of the grassroots lies on both the State and the Local Governments.

He suggested that 23% should go to the local government, while the states should take 42% while the Federal Government should take 35 percentage.

Dr. Fayemi who delivered his speech virtually at the event maintained that both the states and the local governments are the closest to the masses and in terms of responsibilities they are the ones that can deliver the dividend of democracy to the people at the grassroots.

The event had in attendance the Matriarch of the Senator Abiola Ajimobi Family, Dr. Mrs. Florence Ajimobi, Ooni of Ile – Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi, the Alaafin of Oyo, who was ably represented by the Lamidi Oyewole, the Ogun and Ondo State Governors, Mr. Dapo Abiodun and Rotimi Akeredolu, Lagos State Deputy Governor Mr. Babafemi Hamsat represented Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Deputy Governor to Senator Abiola Ajimobi, Otunba Alake Adeyemo, Hon. Saheed Fijabi, Senator Fatai Buhari, Chief Bisi Akande, Chief Iyoola Oladokun, the Oyo State Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Chief Akin Oke, some of the former commissioners who served under the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi, among others.

Also in his reaction at the event, the representative of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu described the late Ajimobi as vibrant and brilliant Nigerian, who believes that Nigeria as a nation can be great.

He said, Ajimobi believed in the greatness of Nigeria which is what actually snowballed into the annual round-table, with the aim of promoting ideas of good governance.

“Ajimobi believed Nigeria could be transform to greatness as a nation, and the most shining country in Africa.

“He projected Oyo State to an enviable standard in terms of road, school security and other structural development.

“Despite all the challenges he faced while in Office, Ajimobi successful led to his second term in Office, a feat which his successors were unable to achieve. Hamsat said.

The 3rd Abiola Ajimobi Round-table, and first Posthumous birthday was jointly organized by the Sen. Abiola Ajimobi Foundation (SAAF) and the Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies(IPSS) of University of Ibadan.
