Ekiti Assembly To Partner Red Cross Society

Ekiti State House of Assembly has declared its intention to partner Red Cross Society.

 

News Rain Nigeria gathered that the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Funmiliyi Afuye while receiving a delegation of the Ekiti State Chapter of the Red Cross Society in his office on Wednesday promised the support of the State Assembly to any initiative that would lead to good governance in the State.

While praising the Red Cross Society for its services to humanity, the speaker stressed that the Society’s humanitarian mission had assisted mankind immensely.

He particularly commended the efforts of the Society for being in the forefront during the recent covid 19 pandemic crisis and promised to support the society to achieve its objectives.

He pledged Legislative support to the Red Cross towards making the Society achieve success in its mission in Ekiti State.

In his remarks, the leader of the delegation, who is also the Chairman Ekiti State Chapter as well as South West Zonal Chairman, Dr Tunde Ajayi appreciated the House of Assembly for receiving the team.

Dr. Ajayi traced the history of the society from inception and pointed out that some Ekiti indigenes played prominent roles during the Nigeria civil war for the Red Cross Society and wished Ekiti can still be at the forefront now that the world is becoming a global village.

Ajayi highlighted some of the achievements of the Red Cross in Ekiti and called for government support for the society especially in the area of office accommodation and running of the society.
