Easy Way MTN, Glo, Airtel Users Can Link Their Phone Numbers With NIN after NCC directive to update all SIM registration records.

News Rain Nigeria reports that there is a glimmer of hope for mobile network users who have been burdened with the worry on how to go about registering and linking their sim to their NIN following the new directive by the Federal Government to network operators to disconnect any SIM card that is not synchronized.

Recall that On the 15th of December 2020, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) issued a statement to publicise a new directive regarding SIM card ownership and registration in Nigeria. According to the NCC directive, all SIM registration records are to be updated with each individual’s NIN before the end of December 2020, after which any SIM cards without a NIN attached are to be blocked.

It has been a state of panic as most Nigerians fear of losing their lines, hence trooping NIMC offices to enrol for their National ID cards and also telecommunications offices to link their ID numbers to their lines.

If you have previously enrolled for your National ID before now, here is a quick hint on how to check if yours has National Identification Number (NIN) linked.

Step 1

Dial *346# and press 1

The service costs N20 per dial.

Hint: Some people will still have NIN linked as long as they completed their sim registration appropriately even though they don’t have National ID Card (NIMC).

Step 2:

After you must have checked and your line (MTN) is not linked to your NIN and you’re very sure you have registered for National ID, you don’t need to panic.

All you have to do is to copy out the ID number, type on the internet mtnonline.com/nim/ and put your NIN in the form that will show online on the MTN website and submit.

For those who are yet to enroll for NIMC (National ID) and want to do so conveniently, you can start the process online by visiting nimc.gov.ng then visit a nearest enrollment centre to complete the registration.

Once you’re done with registration try Step 1 to be sure your line was linked.

Please Note that step 2 is for MTN users only! I will update you guys later when other network providers set up theirs for easy registration.

For Glo and 9mobile users can follow the instruction below;

Airtel – dial *121*1#

Glo – text REG to 746 or 3456
