The development according to an update released to the effect on Monday 21 December 2021 through the Coordinator of the Defence Operations (CDMO), Major General John Enenche, stated that the Nigerian military high command through its Air Task Force in an Operation Lafia Dole eliminated scores of Boko Haram insurgents that were attempting to breach a village last Saturday in Borno State.
Boko Haram Members Eliminated
Enenche said the terrorists invaded the village in about seven gun trucks, but were unlucky, as they suffered heavy casualties from the Nigerian Air Force fighter jets.
Enenche through the update maintained that, the Air Task Force (ATF) of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, during the air bombardment, dealt heavy blow on the insurgents, forcing them to scamper for safety.
“This was achieved on the night of 19 December 2020 sequel to reports that the terrorists, in about 7 gun trucks, had attempted to breach Ajiri, a settlement in Mafa Local Government Area of the State.
“Accordingly, the Air Task Force dispatched an appropriate force package of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter gunships to engage the BHTs.
“The NAF gunships delivered accurate hits, destroying 2 of the gun trucks and neutralizing several terrorists”, the CDMO stated.
He said the air strikes led to the elimination of Boko Haram Terrorists and destruction of their gun trucks at the village, Ajiri, in Borno State. Enenche stated.
