Kankara Abduction: Actions Surrounding Rescue Remain Secret- Military Reveal
Nigerian Military has declared that rescue operations remains secret.
News Rain Nigeria reports that the Nigerian Military High Command has declared that the operations that led to the rescue of the 344 students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina State remains secret.
Military High Command on Thursday 24 December 2020 through a press conference opened up on the operations that led to the successful rescue, stressing that the military declined to speak on the events that surrounded the operations that led to a hitch free rescue, noting that it remains secret, as it could undermine national security.
Actions Surrounding Rescue Remain Secret
Briefing journalists over the development in Abuja, the Coordinator of Defence Military Operations, (CDMO), Major General John Enenche said the successes of military operations across the country from December 17 to 23, 2020, was more of intelligence based, just to make sure the boys were not hurt.
General Enenche, said that based on the earlier promise by the military to rescue the boys alive and unhurt, the military went back to its drawing board in the operations to ensure it redeemed its promised.
He disclosed that several force packages and other elements of interests in the rescue operations were drafted and analysis conducted on the potency of each strategy, they presented, before embarking on the final implementation.
“On 17 December 2020, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI actualized their promise to ensure safe return of abducted students.
“As you are aware, all 344 students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara who were abducted by armed bandits were rescued alive.
“Intelligence management fusion helped us to rescue the boys. It helped us to find the location. Everyone presented their plan and it was perfect.Those that gave us information, the local vigilantes cooperated with us”, General Enenche disclosed, stating that the Department of State Services, (DSS), the polkce, military intelligence all came to the table to chat strategies for the rescue operation and it came out perfect.
The CDMO added that the locals played vital roles as they were in constant touch with security forces, giving them necessary and useful information, which helped in finding the location where the boys were kept.
General Enenche further said that there was a high level support by various authorities both at federal and state level, which enhanced the speed of the rescue.
