Imo State Is Under Siege As Gunmen Attack Mbieri Divisional Police Headquarters, Abduct Police Officers.
News Rain Nigeria reports that armed gunmen again in the early hours of Thursday struck a police station in Mbieri Divisional Police Headquarters situated in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo state.
A resident of Mbieri stated that the gunmen attacked the police division at 1 am in the early hours of Thursday, freed suspects in the cell, and cart away with phones and arms in the police division.
The resident further disclosed that the armed gunmen wore black barret and sang solidarity songs before carrying out their attack.
A police source in the division said “We resisted them but they overpowered us. They had more sophisticated weapons. They took all the phones they saw, released the suspects when they gained access, and vandalised the police building.”
Confirming the attack the Police Public Relations Officer, Imo state Police Command, Orlando Ikeokwu, said the investigation has commenced to fish out the perpetrators of the attack.
