According to her, while the state government will continue to respect the freedom of expression and movement as enshrined in the constitution, it would not open its eye to turn protest to problems in the state.

Asked why there was a heavy presence of security in the state, she stated that the military and paramilitary action is a show of strength.

“We are just trying to make sure we do everything possible to secure the lives of the citizens of the state and also to warn hoodlums planning trouble. The situation in the country is tensed. We should just go about our business without fear.”

Also, the spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command, Mr. Daniel Adigun, confirmed that there was a show of force.

He explained that the command was beefing up security in conjunction with other security agencies including the military and paramilitary.

According to him, the activities of cultists are becoming unbearable and effort is being made to forestall further break down of law.

When contacted, the Osun police command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed that there was a show of force to warn those who may be planning to cause trouble on June 12.
