Chelsea has announced a total 23 Man Squad including Édouard Mendy who will join up with the squad later after competing in the AFCON final against Egypt.

But Blues boss Thomas Tuchel was nowhere to be seen as he continues to self-isolate after contracting Covid.

The German coach returned a positive test just hours before the FA Cup fourth round clash against Plymouth.

The European champions eventually edged past the League One outfit 2-1 after extra-time.

Another man missing for the Blues in the UAE is No1 keeper Edouard Mendy.

The Senegalese shot-stopper will be competing in the Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday when his national side take on Egypt.

But, as confirmed by the club website, Chelsea will be boosted by the return of England international James.

The 22-year-old defender has not featured since picking up a hamstring injury against Brighton in December.

But he has been included in their squad for the Club World Cup as he looks to return to full fitness.

Chelsea receive a bye into the semi-finals of the tournament and will play their last four clash on Wednesday.

They will take on either Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal or Emirati outfit Al-Jazira.

If they make it through to the final, they will then face Brazilian team Palmeiras or Egyptian side Al Ahly for the trophy on Saturday.

Chelsea were last in the Club World Cup in 2012 when they lost 1-0 to Corinthians in the final.

Meanwhile, Tuchel’s side are not in domestic action until February 19 when they travel to Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Three days after that they then return to European competition as they host Lille in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
