The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (formerly Anambra State University) was established in 2000 by the Anambra State Law, No 13, 2000 which was amended as Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Law. 2014.

It inherited the assets and liabilities of the defunct Anambra State Polytechnic, Uli and the Anambra State College of Agriculture, Igbariam.
