1. Abdul Adamu Kinkiba, a Councilor in Soba Local Government Area of Kaduna State has been arrested with AK-47 around the Giwa Local Government Area of the State. The chairman of Soba Local Government Area, Engineer Suleiman Yahaya Richifa confirmed the arrest.

2. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, yesterday, warned that Fulani terrorists masquerading as herders are not welcome in the Southeast. IPOB in a statement alleged that Fulani terrorists masquerading as herders are raping and killing the vulnerable in the region.

3. The Sokoto Sultanate Council has condemned the killing of a female student of Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto State. The student, who was identified as Deborah Samuel, was lynched by some male Muslim students and set on fire, for allegedly insulting Prophet Mohammed.

4. Renowned Islamic Scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has advised the Federal Government to pay ransom to the terrorists holding the 62 abducted passengers of the Abuja-Kaduna train. He spoke during the special prayers organised for the victims by the Jama’iyyar Matan Arewa (JMA), on Thursday in Kaduna.

5. Vigilantes stormed a bandits’ den and engaged them in a duel, rescuing 17 abducted victims, including three children, in Zago Forest Reserve in Niger State. Zago community shares a border with Adagba community in Abaji Area Council of the FCT.

6. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has rejected the plea to back down from its ongoing strike. The union, which met with Federal Government officials at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, on Thursday night, maintained its stance on the industrial action.

7. Following the presidential ambition of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Godwin Emefiele, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said it may move sensitive election materials from the coffers of the apex bank. The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said this on Thursday in Abuja at the second quarterly meeting with the media.

8. Operatives of the Abuja Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested one Afolabi Samad, owner of a Yahoo Yahoo Academy in Abuja. The 24-year-old was arrested in a sting operation on Thursday alongside 16 of his students.

9. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, appealed to the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU and other university-based unions to consider the plight of Nigerian students and call off the prolonged ongoing nationwide strike.
