Recall that Dokpesi, chairman of DAAR Communications who owns Africa Independent Television (AIT) and RayPower FM, died on May 29 at the age of 71, weeks after reportedly suffering a stroke.
A statement by DAAR’s group managing director Tony Akiotu hours after the death stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain fell while on his treadmill.
“He had been ill in the last few weeks but was well on his way to recovery. He had a fall earlier today, while on the treadmill during a routine gym exercise,” the statement said.
Dokpesi’s son Raymond Dokpesi Jnr also described the deceased as “a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend” who “will be deeply missed by all who knew him.”
