One person has been confirmed dead, and five others were rescued from the rubble of a collapsed mosque in the Papa Ajao area of Mushin, Lagos State, on Sunday.
The Permanent Secretary of Lagos Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Femi Osanyintolu in a statement said the mosque located on Yusuf Street, Off Ladipo Road, Papa Ajao, collapsed while prayer was ongoing.
He said that search and rescue operations were taking place under his supervision.
The LASEMA permanent secretary listed other emergency responders at the scene including the police, Lagos State Ambulance Service, and Lagos State Fire Service.
Photos of the incident on social media captured the mosque in rubbles with residents of the area milling around trying to help with rescue efforts.
