1. A former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has said he will not allow a Chinese company, Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment Co. Limited, to scam Nigeria. In a statement on Saturday titled ‘Zhonfu firm is an imposter, it’s Chinese against Chinese dispute’, Amosun stated that Zhongfu has no legal right to appropriate any Nigerian asset.

2. A section of the popular Kaura Modern Market, located opposite the Prince and Princess Market in the Kaura District of Abuja, was on Friday night gutted by fire. It was gathered on Saturday that the fire, which reportedly started at about 11 pm, razed about 40 shops, with items such as foodstuff, appliances and household items lost in the inferno.

3. President Bola Tinubu has warned government officials and Heads of Agencies who do not have any business at the forthcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meetings in New York to stay away from the United States. The directive was disclosed on Saturday by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

4. More than 1,000 #EndBadGovernance protesters are being held in various prisons across the country, according to Amnesty International. The global human rights group accused the Nigerian authorities of escalating a crackdown on peaceful protesters by arraigning over 1,000 protesters in court.

5. Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has said that one of the “graduates” fraudulently mobilised for the scheme by University of Calabar, Cross Rivers State, is a bread seller who did not attend the institution. This is coming as 101 certificates were recently voided by the scheme, making it 178.

6. The Federal Government on Saturday threatened to revoke the licenses of oil marketers found guilty of stockpiling Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) popularly known as gasoline, following the ongoing scarcity in Abuja, Niger, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and many other states.

7. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday declared that leadership is the bane that ails Nigeria. He declared that if the country could get its leadership right at every level, all other things would fall in place.

8. A farmer in Irewole local government area of Osun State, Akinade Matthew, has raised the alarm after herders destroyed five hectares of maize and cassava farm. Akinade, while speaking with journalists, noted that he herdsmen invaded the farm located at Ikoyi last week.

9. Protests by aggrieved members stalled the Local Government congresses of the Benue State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday. The protests followed alleged alteration of the list from the last ward congresses and diversion of congress materials.

10. Ten-man Bayer Leverkusen beat Stuttgart 4-3 on penalties in the German Super Cup on Saturday after a 2-2 draw. Victor Boniface’s early goal was cancelled out by Stuttgart’s Enzo Millot before Martin Terrier saw red for Leverkusen before half-time.
