Nigerian music legend, Onyeka Onwenu has finally been laid to rest in Lagos.
Recall that the singer collapsed at the 80th birthday party of Stella Okoli, founder of Emzor Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company on July 30.
She was later confirmed dead at Reddington Hospital in Lagos.
Her service of songs was earlier held at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, and was attended by prominent figures.
The burial ceremony followed immediately at the Ebony Vaults, James George Street, Off Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Members of Onwenu’s family and friends, and clergymen stood at the gravesite to pay their last respects as the singer’s corpse was lowered into the grave.
Also, former presidential candidate, of the Labour Party, Peter Obi and the Governor of Abia state, Alex Otti were spotted at burial.
Onwenu was not only a gifted musician with numerous hits but also a broadcaster, actress, politician, and activist.
She is survived by her two sons.
