National Grid Collapses Again, Making Third Time In A Week

The national grid collapsed again on Saturday, the third time in one week.

Power generation went off on Saturday morning around 8:16.

Recall that the grid tripped off on Monday and Tuesday when it was being restored.

Checks confirmed that the Nigerian System Operator’s portal (niggrid.org) revealed that the grid recorded zero megawatts (MW) as of 9:20 a.m. today.

This latest failure comes on the heels of two other collapses earlier in the week, further straining the already fragile power system.

The continued collapse has made businesses and households to continue to suffer over the nation’s unreliable electricity supply amid the high cost and unavailability of fuel.

Allocation to power distribution companies stood at 0.00MW at the time of filing this report.

The cause of the collapse could not be ascertained at the time of this report.

More details later…
