1. The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has appointed former Malian coach, Éric Sékou Chelle, as Head Coach of the Super Eagles. This was contained in a statement by the NFF communications department on Tuesday evening.

2. Director General, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has assured corps members that they would start receiving N77,000 minimum wage. Speaking in Abuja when he commissioned a staff bus donated by Capital Express Insurance company, the DG said arrangements for their increased allowances to be paid have been concluded.

3. Four days after Boko Haram terrorists overran a military base in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State, many soldiers are still unaccounted for, credible security sources have revealed. Fighters, in their large numbers, carried out the attack around 4pm on Saturday at the Forward Operating Base, Sabon Gari area.

4. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of suffocating opposition elements in the country. He was reacting to comments made by the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, against the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the last general election, Peter Obi.

5. No fewer than 46 people, including women and children, were reportedly kidnapped during a raid on Gana town in Zamfara State. According to Reuters, residents said the attack occurred around 10 pm, on Sunday. Dozens of gunmen on motorbikes reportedly attacked the town while shooting sporadically and setting fire to several homes and businesses.

6. The Naira on Tuesday appreciated to N1,650 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,665 per dollar on Monday. But the Naira depreciated to N1,538 per dollar in the official foreign exchange market.

7. The Nigerian Police Cybercrime Centre dismantled 5,049 malicious domains and networks and major cybercrime syndicates operating within and beyond Nigeria’s borders in 2024. The centre also secured 14 convictions, and recovered N8.821 billion, $115, 237 and $84,000, which have been restitution to the victims.

8. The Police Command in Ogun State has raised concerns over a significant increase in reports of missing persons in the state. CSP Omolola Odutola, the Command’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement in Abeokuta on Tuesday. She explained that the command had noticed an unprecedented rise in the number of missing persons across all age groups.

9. Two Nigerian nationals, Olutayo Sunday Ogunlaja, 39, and Abel Adeyi Daramola, 37, each face up to 20 years in a United States prison after being convicted by a federal jury for orchestrating a $560,000 romance scam. In a statement released on Monday, the US Attorney, Alexander Uballez revealed through the Department of Justice that the Nigerian pair was convicted of perpetrating the scam following a four-day trial and under three hours of jury deliberation.

10. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday asserted that African nations will stand firm against external forces seeking to disrupt their unity. President Tinubu made the assertion in his message of unity and resilience during the swearing-in ceremony of Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama in Accra.
