Pakistan’s police have charged a man with murder after he allegedly shot and killed the administrator of a community WhatsApp group for removing him from the chat.
The victim, Mushtaq Ahmed, was reportedly gunned down on Thursday evening in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province known for sectarian violence.
According to police documents, a man identified as Ashfaq has been charged with Mushtaq’s murder.
Mushtaq’s brother stated that the dispute began when Mushtaq removed Ashfaq from the WhatsApp group following an argument.
The two later arranged to meet for reconciliation, but Ashfaq allegedly arrived armed and opened fire, killing Mushtaq.
The statement further claimed that Ashfaq was enraged over his removal from the group, leading to the fatal shooting.
