1. Former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, has urged President Bola Tinubu to pay the N45 billion allegedly owed to the late Chief MKO Abiola by the Federal Government. Lamido made the appeal in Abuja on Tuesday during the public presentation of his autobiography, Being True to Myself.
2. The House of Representatives has rejected a bill seeking to amend the 1999 constitution to provide for rotation of the offices of the president and vice president among the six geopolitical zones of the country. The bill was sponsored by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Okezie Kalu.
3. Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have launched coordinated attacks on three military bases in Rann, Gajiram and Dikwa in Borno State, killing at least four soldiers. Security and local sources confirmed that all the attacks happened in the early hours of Tuesday, stating that the insurgents lost many fighters in Dikwa and Gajiram, where the military repelled their attacks.
4. The defection of three Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senators from Kebbi State into the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken the ruling party’s majority to 68 members in the Red Chamber. The three senators – Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North) and Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South) – dumped their party for the APC at plenary.
5. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board will on Thursday review the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination following what it described as “unusual” public complaints. A notice issued in Abuja confirmed that the review meeting would bring together vice-chancellors, provosts, rectors, school principals, examiners, and technical experts to scrutinise the examination process.
6. Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has set June 27 to give a final judgment in the case filed by suspended Kogi Central senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan. Akpoti-Uduaghan is challenging her suspension from the Senate.
7. The management of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria has ordered the immediate closure of Al-Ansar Indabo female students’ hostels located at Hotoro and UDB Road in the Kano metropolis over safety and disciplinary concerns. This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday, by the university’s Vice President, Campus Life, Dr. Hamza Garba.
8. Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force INTERPOL National Central Bureau Abuja have arrested two suspects wanted for investment fraud and cybercrime. The first suspect, a Canadian citizen, Robert Harms, was arrested in connection with a sophisticated investment fraud targeting Tepison Enterprises, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
9. President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday led a host of dignitaries to Kiagbodo Community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta to pay their final respects to the late elder statesman, Pa. Edwin Clark. The funeral service took place at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Kiagbodo, and was officiated by the Anglican Archbishop of the Ughelli Diocese, Most Revd. Cyril Odutemu, who praised Clark for his unwavering dedication to justice, integrity, and service to humanity.
10. The Nigerian Police Force, Kogi Command, says it has arrested 75 suspected kidnappers, 66 armed robbery suspects and 141 others for various crimes across the state. The state Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, disclosed this at his maiden press briefing on Tuesday in Lokoja. Dantawaye said that a total of 239 suspects were arrested for various crimes across from February till date.
