1. Operatives of the Department of State Services, on Monday, intercepted a suspected kidnap kingpin identified as Sani Galadi at Sultan Abubakar International Airport, Sokoto. It was learnt that Galadi, who was arrested at about 11:15am at the airport during a screening exercise for pilgrims, was trailed by the intelligence officers and finally arrested at the Hajj terminal.

2. The South East Caucus in the House of Representatives has called on the Registrar, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, to resign and allow a through investigation into the massive failure in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. The call was contained in a statement signed by the Caucus Leader, Rep.Igariwey Iduma Enwo, on Monday.

3. A Nigerian televangelist, Timothy Omotoso, has been deported from South Africa. The 66-year-old pastor was reported to be leaving the country yesterday from Johannesburg’s OR Tambo Airport for Nigeria. Online videos show Omotoso at the airport in a grey hoodie and sunglasses, chatting with an immigration official.

4. The 2023 presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi, on Monday, said his involvement in the coalition of opposition parties, ahead of the 2027 election, wasn’t about positions but replacing bad governance with a better one. Obi said this in response to reports that he had agreed to a deal with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to serve as Vice President in the 2027 polls.

5. Several people were feared dead on Monday following a second accident within 24 hours around the Karu Bridge on the Nyanya-Mararaba Road in Abuja, the nation’s capital. It was learnt that an earlier accident occurred on Sunday evening, involving seven vehicles.

6. Troops of the Joint Task Force, JTF, Operation Whirl Stroke, OPWS, in synergy with other security agencies have stormed and destroyed identified bandits’ camps linked to a bandit leader in Konyo Gbise around Akwaza in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. A statement by the Army said the operation was in continuation of efforts to dismantle all criminal elements in OPWS area of operation to ensure a successful farming season in Benue State.

7. Africa’s richest man and industrialist, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, said on Monday that he wouldn’t have attempted his $20 billion refinery if he knew the magnitude of the facility. He also expressed commitment to empowering Nigerian engineers and building local capacity through large-scale industrial projects.

8. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced that it will on Wednesday release the results of 379,000 candidates who sat the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination between Friday and Monday. JAMB rescheduled the exam following widespread outcry over mass failure during the initial UTME.

9. The Independent National Electoral Commission has published the name of Chief George Moghalu as the Labour Party’s governorship candidate for the November 8, 2025, Anambra State election, effectively affirming the leadership of Julius Abure as the recognised LP National Chairman.

10. Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has filed a no-case submission in response to the N6.9bn fraud charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke of the Federal High Court in Lagos heard the no-case submission and subsequently reserved a ruling on it.
