Determined to provide adequate healthcare for the people of Anambra State, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, has approved the award of a contract for the supply of four ambulances to the Ministry of Health at a total sum of N165,600,508.80.
Other projects awarded by the Governor in the health sector includes – the award of the contract for the reconstruction and fortification of the collapsed part of the perimeter fence/drainages at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Nawfia at the sum of N70, 739,997.06; the award of the contract for the supply of routine ante-natal medicines and associated services initiative for the first half of 2025 (Jan-June, 2025) at the cost of N395,499,193.49, as well as the approved sum of N254,739,359.98 as the cost of additional works on the ongoing construction of the ultramodern trauma center at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka, Anambra State.
The awarded contracts were part of the decisions made at the 9th Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting, held at the new Anambra State Government House mini-city on Monday, May 26, 2025.
The Governor, in his infrastructural drive to revamp the healthcare sector, also upgraded primary healthcare centers and constructed five new general hospitals, equipping them with first-rate facilities and skilled personnel for efficient, affordable, and quality healthcare services.
This earned the Governor his recent awards as the best-performing governor in primary healthcare delivery in the Southeast and Nigeria overall – the prestigious award was presented by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, the Federal Ministry of Health, and the United Nations Children and Education Fund (UNICEF).
Anambra received a total of $1,200,000 for the awards, $500,000 for the feat in the Southeast, and $700,000 for overall excellence in the Primary Health Care Leadership Challenge.
To further enhance the healthcare sector, the Governor employed 1,000 health workers, including doctors, nurses, consultants, pharmacists, and medical laboratory technicians, and introduced telemedicine for efficient healthcare solutions.
Governor Soludo has yet again demonstrated his legacy of unparalleled achievements in the health sector with the award of the new contracts at the just concluded ANSEC meeting in Awka.
