Governor Charles Soludo has approved the contract for the supply of routine antenatal medicines and associated services for the state’s free antenatal and delivery services initiative for the first half of 2025, as part of his efforts to provide free healthcare services to pregnant women in the state.
The governor, in his infrastructural drive to revamp the healthcare sector, has upgraded primary healthcare centers and constructed five new general hospitals, equipping them with first-rate facilities and skilled personnel for efficient, affordable, and quality healthcare services.
He has employed over 1,000 health workers, including doctors, nurses, consultants, pharmacists, and medical laboratory technicians, and introduced telemedicine for efficient healthcare solutions.
The State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, stated that Governor Soludo has further enhanced the standard of the health sector with the supply of four ambulances to the Ministry of Health.
He has also awarded the contract for the additional works on the ongoing construction of the ultra-modern trauma center at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka.
Soludo, who was recognised as the most performing governor in primary healthcare in the Southeast region and overall, nationally, at the ninth Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting, also awarded the contract for the reconstruction and fortification of the collapsed part of the perimeter fence and drainages at the Neuropsychiatric Hospital at Nawfia.
The transformation of Governor Soludo in healthcare since his inception in office has been applauded at BudgIT’s State of States 2024 Report, where it clinched the fourth position in overall fiscal performance and sustainability.
