VIDEO: Passengers To Get 10,000 Naira Compensation If Luggage Don’t Arrive As Scheduled

Michael Achimugu, the Director of Consumer Protection at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), has sent a message to airline passengers.
In a video he shared today on X, he reminded travelers that airlines are legally required to compensate them when bags don’t arrive as scheduled — a rule many Nigerians are still unaware of.
He said: “Hello, air travelers. I’m Michael Achimugu, Director of Consumer Protection at NCAA.
If your luggage doesn’t arrive: domestic flights get 10,000 Naira immediate compensation; international flights $100, or $170 if the airline is non-compliant per NCAA. Always request it.
Arrive early for check-in/boarding. Never be late. Thank you.”

To make this clearer:
If ALL of your bags do not arrive, you are entitled to first need compensation. If SOME of your bags arrived and SOME did not, you would not be entitled to first need.
The idea of first need compensation is for the passenger to be able to buy toiletries… https://t.co/CW2hJYO2XK
