NAWOJ Lagos Congratulates Dr. Adeola Ekine On Her Appointment As SA To NUJ President

The executives and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NAWOJ Lagos State chapter, have congratulated Dr. Adeola Ekine, the immediate past Chairperson of the association, on her appointment as Special Adviser to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya.

According to a statement made available to the media, the event took place today, 12th August, 2025, in Kano State during the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.

Dr. Ekine is a highly respected journalist and public affairs specialist with extensive experience in media and communication.

Before she was appointed Special Adviser, she served as the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Lagos Chapter, where she demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, dedication, and passion for promoting gender equality and empowering women in the media industry.

Other notable positions include Vice Chairperson and Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos Information Chapel

She has also received an Honorary Doctoral Fellowship Award from the Institute of Public Sector Management (IPSM), led NAWOJ, Lagos Chapter in paying a courtesy visit to several Public, Private, and Cultural Organizations, such as the Oba of Ikateland, promoting collaboration with NAWOJ to advance journalism and women’s empowerment.

Dr. (Mrs.) Ekine is an active member of NAWOJ, NUJ, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and Institute of Public Sector Management (IPSM) UK.

The members and executives of the association jointly congratulate Dr. Ekine on this appointment and are confident that her expertise and experience will be invaluable to the NUJ National President.
