Meet Obasa’s Son, Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, As He Becomes Agege LG Chairman After Chairman’s Resignation
Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, son of the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudasiru Obasa, has emerged as the new Chairman of Agege Local Government following the resignation of the former chairman, Tunde Azeez, who had been on medical leave since the inauguration of the current administration.
Azeez, in a resignation letter read by the Leader of the House, Adeshina Haruna, stepped down due to persistent health challenges that had significantly affected his ability to discharge his duties since assuming office.
Obasa’s son was unanimously voted in on Wednesday by the lawmakers as the new Chairman of Agege Local Government after Azeez’s resignation was read and approved during a legislative session.
Azeez’s resignation came barely two months after he embarked on medical leave, following health complications that hindered his participation in political and administrative activities.
Upon proceeding on leave, Azeez handed over to Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, who had since been serving as Acting Chairman of Agege Local Government.
The development did not come as a surprise to many political observers in Agege.
During the run-up to the 2025 local government elections, Azeez, then the APC chairmanship candidate, was noticeably absent from campaign activities, leaving much of the mobilisation and grassroots engagement to his running mate, Vinod Obasa.
