2. Yelwata Killings: Nine Plead Not Guilty To 57-Count Terrorism Charge
The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of nine suspects arraigned over their alleged involvement in the massacre of about 150 people in Yelwata community, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
Justice Joyce Abdul‑Malik gave the order on Monday in the criminal case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/471/2025, where the Attorney‑General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, led the prosecution.
The defendants were remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja, pending the commencement of the full trial scheduled for February 26 and 27, 2026.
Fagbemi, who appeared with the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation (DPPF), Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, informed the court that a 57‑count amended charge had been filed against ten accused persons in relation to the June 13, 2025 attack that resulted in mass killings and the burning of houses.
However, the AGF asked the court to strike out the name of the 6th defendant, Yakubu Mamman, and to withdraw the earlier charge filed on September 9, leaving only the amended indictment for court consideration.
The defendants, who included Ardo Lawal Mohammed Dono, Ardo Muhammadu Saidu, Alhaji Haruna Abdullahi, Yakubu Adamu, Alhaji Mohammed Musa, Abubakar Adamu, Shaibu Ibrahim, Sale Mohammed, and Bako Jibrin, among others still at large, pleaded not guilty to all counts.

3. FCTA: Court Stops NLC, TUC From Embarking On Protest
Justice Emmanuel Subilim of the National Industrial Court, Abuja Division, has issued an interim order restraining the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and three others from embarking on any form of strike or protest action.
The order followed an ex parte application filed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and the FCT Administration, over a planned mass protest scheduled for February 3, 2026, by labour unions operating within the territory.
Ruling on the motion, Justice Subilim barred the 1st to 5th respondents, including the NLC, TUC, and the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC), from embarking on any industrial action pending the hearing of the motion on notice.
The judge further directed the 6th to 9th respondents, comprising relevant security agencies, to ensure no breakdown of law and order across the Federal Capital Territory.
The legal team for the FCTA, led by Ogwu Onoja (SAN), told the court that the Chairman of the FCT Council of the NLC had already issued a mobilization notice for a mass protest, despite a subsisting court order delivered on January 27.

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has disclosed that the party is tactfully resolving the impeachment threat against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Yilwatda made the disclosure on Sunday during an interview with Trust TV, amid rising tensions in the state’s political landscape.
Responding to questions on the Rivers State crisis, the APC chairman said the party had already begun engaging stakeholders to douse the impeachment plot targeting Governor Fubara and his Deputy, Ngozi Odu.
He explained that the APC has internal mechanisms for managing political conflicts, which he said distinguish the party from others.
The APC chairman described the party’s approach in Rivers as a “self-healing” process, aimed at restoring order and maintaining stability in the oil-rich state.
5. 2027: Atiku Can Anoint Peter Obi To Win ADC Presidential Ticket – Yakasai
The National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Yinusa Tanko Yakasai, has dismissed speculations that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar can become a hindrance to the emergence of Peter Obi as the 2027 presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking on TVC’s Politics On Sunday, Yakasai submitted that Atiku can even support Obi to pick the ADC presidential candidate.
The Obidient Movement leader described Atiku as a father and leader, stressing that as much as the former Vice President has a right to contest, he can also support another candidate to emerge.

The South-West National Chairman of the Labour Party, Abayomi Arambambi, has declared that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, remains a member of the party.
According to him, Peter Obi never announced his defection from the party and has not picked up a membership form of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Arabambi, who spoke during News Central TV’s Breakfast Central, challenged anybody with contrary evidence to present it.
“That aside, Peter Obi has not left Labour Party; he is just hibernating in ADC,” he said.
To buttress his point, Arabambi argued that several prominent leaders of the ADC openly dumped their former parties and picked up the ADC membership card, but Obi did not follow the process.

8. Why I Don’t Do 50/50 With My Husband Stan Nze – Blessing
Nollywood actress Blessing Nze has spoken about how finances are handled in her marriage to actor Stan Nze.
The movie producer said their relationship is not based on popular sharing formulas like 50/50 or 70/30.
Obasi explained that both she and her husband take full responsibility when it comes to money, describing their system as one where each partner gives their best without measuring who contributes more.
She said they both pay for things when needed and later exchange receipts to keep a record of expenses.
According to her, this approach allows them to function as a team rather than turning their marriage into something that feels like a business arrangement.
She added that fixing money ratios in marriage can make it feel too formal and transactional, which she tries to avoid.
The actress made it clear that their focus is on partnership and support, with each person stepping in whenever necessary instead of calculating percentages.

His standout performances that year earned him the African Footballer of the Year award, and he was the only African player named on the men’s Ballon d’Or shortlist, finishing 14th.

10. South Africa Clarifies Plan To Replace Morocco As 2026 WAFCON Host
South Africa’s Minister of Sports, Gayton McKenzie, has shed more light on reports that his country is set to replace Morocco as the host country for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
McKenzie, in a statement on Monday, explained that “no formal decision” has been made on the reported replacement of Morocco as the tournament’s host.
The South African Minister explained that as of the present, Morocco remains the host nation for the tournament scheduled to start on March 17.
He said South Africa hosting the WAFCON would require CAF’s formal confirmation, cabinet approval, venue and infrastructure availability and readiness.
The Minister’s clarification follows an earlier statement credited to the country’s Deputy Sports Minister, Peace Mabel, who declared that South Africa had replaced Morocco as the host of the competition.
Mabel claimed that Morocco had pulled out of hosting the WAFCON with five weeks remaining, and that her country is prepared to take over.
However, McKenzie explained that South Africa “has only indicated its willingness to support CAF if alternative hosting arrangements become necessary.”
He added that such arrangements “are part of CAF’s routine contingency planning” ahead of hosting any competitions.
