NewsRain Nigeria reports that Aunty Ajara, a Nollywood actress whose real name is Ajara Lasisi, has been buried amid tears.

Recall that the actress had passed away after a prolonged battle with illness.

Her colleagues, Wunmi Toriola, Foluke Daramola, Mama Nonetwork, and many others had been soliciting donations from the public towards her treatment.

Announcing her death, Actor TeeMony via Instagram post on Thursday announced that Aunty Ajara had passed away on February 5, 2026.

He expressed appreciation to everyone who had shown the deceased love and stood by her with prayers during her ailing condition.

The post read, “With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved actress, Aunty Ajara. She passed on overnight after a long and courageous battle with illness.

“During this difficult period, Ajara received immense love, prayers, and financial support from kind-hearted people across the world.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who stood by her with prayers, contributions, encouragement, and compassion.

“At this moment, we kindly urge family, friends, and the general public to please stop sending money to the previously shared account, as it is no longer required.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, loved ones, and everyone grieving this painful loss. May her soul rest in perfect peace.”

The actress was laid to rest on Thursday following Islamic rites, with family, colleagues, and community members mourning her loss with tears and prayers.

Videos from the burial ceremony that appeared online showed mourners gathered around Aunty Ajara’s grave while a Muslim cleric led the Islamic burial rites.

Her burial was a final goodbye to an actress known for her humility and hard work, and her contributions to Nollywood will not be forgotten.
