1. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday approved the establishment of a new campus of the Police Academy in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area in Ogun State. President Tinubu also approved a special take-off grant of N15billion for the college.

2. The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has dared the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, faction loyal to Taminu Turaki to visit the National Secretariat of the party if truly it is in charge. Wike said this at the 108 PDP National Executive Committee, NEC meeting of the faction in Abuja on Monday.

3. Ahead of the 2027 general elections, supporters of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, have launched a new political pressure group, the Obi–Kwankwaso (OK) movement. The movement is coming following increased permutations within the coalition African Democratic Congress, ADC, over who will fly the Presidential ticket of the party.

4. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Olufemi Oluyede, has charged troops to intensify operations against bandits in the North-West, declaring that Nigeria must be made safe “at all cost”. He said this at his maiden operational visit to troops under Operation Fansan Yamma in Gusau, Zamfara State.

5. Suspected bandits have killed at least three soldiers in a pre-dawn attack on a joint security post in Kemanji community, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. The bandits also reportedly carted away weapons and an army gun truck in the process.

6. A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Monday admitted nine exhibits against former Attorney-General of the Federation, AGF, and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, alongside his wife, Hajia Bashir Asabe, and his son, Abubakar Malami. The exhibits were tendered before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in its ongoing trial of the former AGF, his son and wife.

7. The Naira on Monday appreciated to N1,387 per dollar in the parallel market from N1,389 per dollar last week Friday. But the naira depreciated to N1,349.7 per dollar in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market, NFEM.

8. Boko Haram terrorists have released a video daring the Nigerian government to attempt a forceful rescue of 416 abducted victims in Borno State. This is as it was warned that if their demands are not met within 72 hours, the victims will be taken to different locations where they may never be seen again.

9. Gunmen abducted at least 15 passengers along the Calabar–Oron waterway in Cross River State on Friday. It was gathered on Monday that coordinated search-and-rescue and tactical operations are ongoing to secure the victims’ release. The victims were kidnapped while travelling by water aboard a Sea Express boat en route from Calabar to Oron, prompting a joint security operation involving multiple agencies.

10. The Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, Mr. Tunji Bello, has commended the Federal High Court for dismissing a suit filed by Air Peace Limited challenging the Commission’s authority to investigate consumer complaints and issue summons in the course of its statutory duties.
