1. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a Presidential Task Force on Ebola Virus Disease Preparedness and Emerging Public Health Threats. The President has also ordered the immediate release of N10 billion as intervention funding for emergency preparedness.

2. Armed men suspected to be bandits have reportedly killed a personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Mr. Ayo Olukotun, and abducted his daughter along with several other residents during an attack on Odo-Ere, the headquarters of Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The Zamfara State Police Command, in a joint operation with other security agencies, has repelled a bandit attack during a two-hour gunfight along Gadar Manya in the Anka Local Government Area of the state. A statement by the spokesperson for the state police command on Tuesday disclosed that the armed confrontation, which occurred on Monday, followed an encounter with a group of bandits attempting to cross the highway.

4. President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday declared that the era of abandoned projects in Nigeria is gradually becoming a thing of the past. Tinubu gave the assurance while commissioning the main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway, OSEX, from Ring Road I Junction to Ring Road II Junction in Abuja.

The Senate on Tuesday passed the Virtual Asset Service Providers Regulation Bill, 2026 for second reading, signalling a major step towards establishing a legal framework for cryptocurrency and digital asset operations in Nigeria. Lawmakers said the proposed legislation would protect investors, curb fraud and criminal activities, and unlock the economic potential of the rapidly growing digital asset sector.

7. Works Minister David Umahi has given a construction firm, GELD, 72 hours to fully mobilise to its section of the Abuja-Lokoja Highway. He also summoned the contractors handling the federal road project for a performance and financial review amid concerns over slow project delivery.

The House of Representatives, on Tuesday, summoned Service Chiefs and the Finance Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy to appear before it and provide a detailed account of funds released to the military, amid growing concerns over the worsening security situation across the country, despite huge budgetary allocations to defence. The resolution followed the adoption of motions on the escalating wave of banditry, kidnappings and attacks on communities, schools and places of worship across Nigeria.

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC on Tuesday confirmed that it has filed appeals against two Federal High Court judgments that questioned aspects of its Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2027 General Election, insisting that the activities contained in the timetable are interrelated operational processes that cannot be arbitrarily isolated or removed without throwing the entire electoral calendar into disarray.

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, and the All Progressives Congress Campaign Council on Tuesday traded accusations over violence recorded in parts of the state, which left about three persons injured.
