Rite Foods, JAMB Unveil ₦35 Million Academic Excellence Awards For Top Nigerian Undergraduates

Ritr Foods and JAMB have unveiled ₦35million academic excellence awards for top Nigerian undergraduates.

NewsRain Nigeria reports that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in partnership with Rite Foods Limited, will on Tuesday honour seven exceptional Nigerian undergraduates with a total of ₦35 million in academic excellence awards, in recognition of their outstanding performance during the 2025 admission exercise.

Each of the beneficiaries would receive ₦5 million at the maiden edition of the Academic Excellence Recognition Award Ceremony scheduled to hold in Lagos.

JAMB said the initiative reflects the commitment of both organisations to promoting merit, rewarding excellence, and encouraging young Nigerians to pursue academic distinction.

According to the Board, the beneficiaries emerged through a rigorous, transparent, and merit-based selection process based on their exceptional performances in both the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and the Post-UTME or institutional screening exercises conducted by their respective universities.

The seven awardees include the best-performing admitted candidates from the country’s six geopolitical zones as well as the highest-performing candidate living with a disability.

The institutions of the winning candidates are the University of Lagos for the South-West, University of Uyo for the South-South, Federal University of Technology, Owerri for the South-East, Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia for the North-West, University of Maiduguri for the North-East, and the Federal University of Technology, Minna for the North-Central zone.

JAMB disclosed that the recipient of the award for the highest-performing candidate living with a disability also emerged from the University of Lagos, making the institution the only university to produce two award recipients at the maiden edition of the initiative.

Speaking ahead of the ceremony, JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the awards were designed to celebrate exceptional academic achievement and reinforce the culture of merit and excellence in Nigeria’s education sector.

He said: “The initiative underscores the shared commitment of JAMB and Rite Foods Limited to promoting academic excellence, rewarding merit, and inspiring young Nigerians to pursue educational achievement.

“The awardees emerged through a rigorous, transparent, and merit-based selection process coordinated by JAMB to ensure that only the most deserving candidates are recognised.”

Benjamin added that the recognition would serve as motivation for students across the country to strive for excellence and demonstrate that hard work and dedication to education attract national recognition and support.

He noted that the ceremony was expected to attract more than 300 distinguished guests drawn from government, academia, regulatory agencies, the corporate sector, and the wider education community.

Expected dignitaries include the Minister of Education, the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, vice chancellors of the award-winning universities and other universities in Lagos State, as well as chief executives of key education regulatory bodies, including the National Universities Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).
