NewsRain Nigeria reports that Applications for UK Chevening Scholarships will open on Tuesday, August 4, and close on October 6, 2026, offering fully funded master’s degree opportunities at UK universities for emerging leaders from around the world.
The scholarship programme, funded by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations, is designed for individuals with strong leadership potential who are committed to driving positive change in their home countries.
Head of the Scholarships Unit at the FCDO, Emma Hennessey, said this year’s programme seeks applicants ready to work with the UK to address global challenges and promote sustainable development.

British Deputy High Commissioner in Lagos, Jonny Baxter, described the programme as more than an academic scholarship.
“Chevening is far more than a scholarship to study in the UK. It is an opportunity to join a global network of exceptional leaders committed to creating positive change in their communities and beyond,” Baxter said.
He encouraged Nigerians with a clear vision for advancing shared priorities between Nigeria and the UK to apply.
Applicants are advised to review the programme’s eligibility requirements and application guidance before submitting their entries.
