A popular Nollywood actress has died at 40.

NewsRain Nigeria reports that Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has passed away.

The sad news was announced on Wednesday by fellow actor Alesh Sanni, who shared an emotional tribute on his Instagram page, expressing shock and grief over the actress’ passing.

Unable to hide his emotions, Sanni revealed that he had been awake all night since receiving the heartbreaking news, describing Osoba as a cherished sister and friend with whom he shared unforgettable memories.

“Couldn’t sleep since last night, it’s well. Rest in peace, my dearest sister, Temitope Osoba.

We had an amazing time and good memories together. Till we meet again. I really dunno what to say mehn, gosh,” he wrote.

As of the time of filing this report, the cause of Osoba’s death had not been disclosed.

Meanwhile, recall that Temitope Osoba was widely celebrated for her remarkable contributions to the Yoruba arm of Nollywood, where she built a reputation as a talented and versatile actress.

She appeared in numerous acclaimed Yoruba-language productions and rose to prominence through films such as Gucci Girls, Igboro Ti Daru, and her debut movie Single Ladies, among several other successful projects.

Over the years, Osoba endeared herself to audiences with her captivating performances and earned the respect of colleagues for her dedication to the craft.

Her death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from fans, colleagues, and well-wishers, many of whom have taken to social media to celebrate her life, career, and lasting impact on the Nigerian movie industry.

Also, recall that after surviving and recovering from breast cancer, she announced her return to acting in August 2025

According to Osoba, she discovered a lump in her breast in late 2024 during a self-examination.

She underwent surgery in November 2024 to remove the tumour, and her doctors later recommended a second operation to clear remaining cancer cells.
