Popular Comedian Dies At 86

A popular comedian has died at the age of 86.

NewsRain Nigeria reports that veteran Hausa comedian Alhaji Muhammad Sani Gwarzo, popularly known as Tumbuleke, has died at the age of 86 in Kaduna.

Tumbuleke, who was famous for his role in the popular comedy programme Gidan Kashe Ahu, aired on the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in the 1980s, died at about 3 pm on Tuesday after a prolonged illness.

Confirming his death to Daily Trust, one of his sons, Tukur Sani Gwarzo, described the deceased as a good man and family man who loved people.

“Yes, our father died at about 3 pm on Tuesday, and his funeral prayer was held on the same day. He was a good man who loved people,” he said in tears.

Tukur also confirmed that his father was 86 years old.

The funeral prayer was held at the deceased’s residence along Zaria Road in Kaduna.

Tumbuleke was a familiar face in Hausa comedy and entertained audiences for many years through his appearances in popular comedy programmes.

His death has thrown his family, friends and fans, particularly lovers of Hausa comedy, into mourning.

Many people have taken to social media and other platforms to express their condolences and pray for the repose of his soul.
