NAWOJ has honoured Bola Muse for blending corporate leadership with grassroots humanitarian impact.

NewsRain Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ Lagos State Chapter, has named the Group Managing Director of Bomarah Group, Hajia Bola Muse, its Iconic Woman of the Month for August, recognising her contributions to corporate leadership and sustained interventions targeted at vulnerable and marginalised groups.

The recognition draws attention to Muse’s growing influence beyond the maritime and logistics sectors, where she has built a career in corporate leadership, to her humanitarian activities through the Bomarah Foundation.

According to the Lagos chapter of NAWOJ, Muse was selected in recognition of her leadership and commitment to social responsibility, particularly her interventions aimed at supporting widows, inmates, ex-offenders, students, young people and Persons Living with Disabilities.

Through the Bomarah Foundation, Muse has driven grassroots empowerment initiatives providing financial grants, business start-up kits, food items and livelihood support to vulnerable individuals and communities.

The interventions are aimed at helping beneficiaries move beyond temporary assistance towards improved economic independence.

For widows and other underserved members of society, the Foundation’s programmes have included financial and material support designed to ease economic hardship and provide opportunities for sustainable livelihoods.

The Foundation has also extended its humanitarian interventions to correctional facilities and individuals seeking to reintegrate into society after incarceration.

Its programmes include welfare packages, legal support and rehabilitation initiatives for inmates and ex-offenders, reflecting a broader focus on social inclusion and second chances.

Students and young people have also benefited from scholarship opportunities, while Persons Living with Disabilities have received mobility aids and targeted empowerment support aimed at promoting inclusion and financial independence.

Chairperson of NAWOJ Lagos, Jumoke Falayi-Johnson, said Muse’s recognition reflects the importance of women whose professional achievements are complemented by measurable contributions to society.

Falayi-Johnson said the Bomarah Group GMD had demonstrated how corporate success could be aligned with social responsibility and community development.
