The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Ekiti State Chapter internal crisis has taken another dimension as the Senator Abiodun Olujimi led factions has rejected Ayo Fayose group choice over the leadership of the Party in the  South West.
Note that Hon. Kehinde Odebunmi who is a former House of National Assembly members recently emerged as a Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party under Senator Abiodun Olujimi’s faction.
Also, Ekiti PDP Chapter on 22nd, August 2020 held a parallel congress that produced two factions, which comprises Ayo Fayose and Senator Olujimi factions, while both factions have been claiming superiority over the party leadership since then.
Odebunmi in his reaction to a letter that was reportedly written by the People’s Democratic Party National Working Committee(NWC), recognized Hon. Bisi Kolawole as the authentic chairman of the party in the state, which has been in circulation since yesterday.
Hon. Odebunmi while addressing a press conference in Ado Ekiti over the issue stressed that the letter was of no effect and has nothing to do with the workings of his group.
Odebunmi who maintained that the contents of the letter that was purportedly signed by the National Secretary, Senator  Umaru Ibrahim Tsauri were full of confusion and ambiguities.
He said ‘we doubt the authenticity of the letter purportedly written by the National Secretary because it was solely written and signed by the National Secretary. By my own understanding, any letter by any party to any federal agency is always co-signed by the Chairman and Secretary’.
“Again, in paragraph two of the letter, the party owned up that it hasn’t conducted the ward and state congresses in 22 wards of two local governments. If that was the case, why should they proceed with the state congress when there were outstanding? Are they saying the two councils are not part of Ekiti? They should know that you can’t build something on anything’.
Hon. Odebunmi however confirmed that his faction has adopted the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has the authentic PDP leader in South West.
The Honorable reaffirmed the position of the group and that of its leader, Senator Olujimi also adopted Makinde as the PDP leader in the southwest.
“Having accepted Governor  Seyi Makinde as the party leader in Southwest, he, therefore, has the unfettered political right to intervene and mediate in all matters regarding the peaceful coexistence of the party members across the Southwest geopolitical zone.
“The entire leadership and members of PDP in Ekiti State seize this medium to reiterate our earlier position that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state is the leader of PDP in Southwest and we are solidly behind him. He is, therefore, free to visit Ekiti state like any other state in the zone at any time he deems fit”, Odebunmi declares.
Hon. Odebunmi stressed that Ekiti PDP is not and will never be in support of the statement made by the former Governor of the State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose against the respected Governor Seyi Makinde to the effect that the governor has become a persona- non -grata in Ekiti PDP.
He noted that Ekiti PDP wishes to reassure all party members and other stakeholders that with their support, they shall win the 2022 Governorship election in Ekiti state”.
Odebunmi said: “We are of the opinion that a separate letter is written to INEC and should be co-signed by National Chairman and Secretary, we knew their antics, they didn’t write to INEC directly, because it didn’t participate in the charade they called congress here in Ekiti, to us, we doubt the authenticity of that letter going by ambiguities contained therein”.
