Bayelsa Govt. Sets To Pay Minimum Wage Of N30,000 To Workers

newsrainngBayelsa State has promised to pay local government workers a minimum wage of N30,000.
News Rain gathered that Bayelsa government made known its intentions on the matter through the State Deputy Governor, Mr Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo at the Government House in Yenagoa, the Capital City of the State, stating that the local government employee needs to be patient with the State government to perfect all the modalities surrounding the process.

Bayelsa Government To Pay Workers Minimum Wage.
The Deputy Governor, who was playing host to the National Union of Local Government Employee (NULGE) Bayelsa State Chapter, led by it’s State Chairman Mr Akpos Ekiegha who was on a courtesy visit, gave the assurance in his address that the Union members will soon begin to enjoy the minimum wage of N30,000.
Mr Lawrence also in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mr Doubara Atasi, confirmed the present administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, noting that the process to implement the minimum wage for councils was underway.
“There is a committee that had already been set up for the purpose, adding that the government was also working towards implementing workers’ promotion at all levels to boost motivation, career growth, and progression.
Ewhrudjakpo said: “The minimum wage committee will work on the report which will be reviewed before implementation.

“We are also looking into the issue of implementing the promotions. We will harmonize the promotions for both health workers and local government employees”. Lawrence stated.
