EDO ELECTION: INEC Declares No Vote Buying, Selling, Promise Free, Fair Election

News Rain Reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared that there will not be any form of vote transactions, such as buying and selling of votes at the Saturday Gubernatorial Poll in Edo State.

INEC Warns About Vote Buying
INEC also noted that those plotting to buy votes will not succeed because of the measures that the agency has put in place to curtail such activities.
Barrister Festus Okoye who is the Chairman, Information, and Voters Education Committee of INEC in a chat with newsmen on the situation of things as regards tomorrow Edo Election said that the Commission is ready to conduct a free and fair election.

He said, “We are ready to conduct free and fair election devoid of any form of malpractice, the Commission has redesigned polling units to protect the secrecy of the votes.
Okoye noted that there will be plainclothes security men that will be moving around the polling units to monitor the activities of those who want to disrupt the polling exercise.

Okoye also said that the Commission has ordered that no one will be allowed to use any camera at the polling units. With the redesigned of the polling units, the presence of plainclothes Police at the polling among other things are the measures that have been put in place to curtail the excesses that might have an interest in vote-buying.
