Tragedy! Two Killed As Police, Armed Robbers Engage In Gun Duel

News Rain Nigeria reports that Akwa Ibom State Police Command has killed two armed robbers in the Ikot Ekpene town of the State.

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command in a Press Release that was issued to the effect on Thursday noted that the two armed robbers were killed in a gun duel with the Police team.

According to the released that was issued from the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP. Odiko MacDon, noted that the armed robbers were killed on the 8th of October, 2020, at about 12: 30 pm, following a distress call from members of the public, that some armed bandits were operating at Ifuho Village in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of the State.

The release stated further that Police in response to the distress call, the Operatives of the Ikot Ekpene Division, led by its DPO, SP. Joshua Benjamin proceeded to the scene of the crime, and the suspected criminals on sighting the Police opened gunfire and as a result of the gun duel between the parties, two members of the armed bandits were shot while the rest managed to escape through the nearby bush, with possibly gunshot wounds.

The two bandits that were neutralized in the operation was however confirmed dead by the Police Clinic in Ikot Ekpene.

Items recovered from the bandits at the scene were One locally made pistol, Two live cartridges, One expended cartridge, One black Qlink motorcycle, GSM phones, and some charms.
