Oyo state governor Seyi Makinde has described Alaafin as a royal Icon.
News Rain Nigeria reports that the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has declared that Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, as a royal Icon, with exemplary leadership qualities.

Governor Makinde in a congratulatory message that was signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa on Thursday, 15th, October 2020, had congratulated the highly referred monarch on his 82nd birthday.
Governor Makinde through the statement in which a copy was made available to the News Rain Nigeria correspondent in Ibadan the Oyo State Capital, described the Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi as a father and royal icon with exemplary conduct and leadership.
According to the statement which quoted governor Makinde said the Alaafin’s impact on society has been immense.
Makinde, however, used the medium to pray for the king, he said, ” May God to continue to grant Kabiyesi good health to lead the people and to make more impact in Oyo Kingdom, Oyo State, Nigeria and humanity at large.
“On behalf of the Government and good people of Oyo State, I congratulate our father, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, on his 82nd birthday. Makinde stated.
Governor Makinde however celebrates with the King on his 82nd birthday, as he stated through the statement as thus: “Kabiyesi, we celebrate you as you mark another year of your eventful and impactful life.
“You are a father and royal icon of exemplary conduct in our society.
“I join your family, well-wishers, and numerous subjects to pray that God continues to enable you with wisdom and sound health and assure you more positive impacts on humanity, your domain, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole.
“Happy Birthday, Kabiyesi Iku Baba Yeye.”
