EndSARS: Buhari Meets Ooni, Sultan, Others At Aso Villa

Ooni of Ife, Sultan of Sokoto, and other eminent Nigerian traditional rulers held a meeting with President Mohammadu Buhari today.

News Rain Nigeria gathered that the president held close door meeting with some traditional rulers from different parts of the country at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting had in attendance the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Sa’ad; the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; and the Emir of Kano, among others.

It is believed that the purpose of the meeting may not be unconnected with the current political cum security situation in the country.

Recall that recently, the government has been battling with the crisis emanated from the nationwide protest against police brutality codenamed #EndSARS. Especially with the alleged shooting of the protesters at Lekki Toll Gate Lagos.

The protest championed by Nigerian youths was believed to have later been hijacked by suspected hoodlums, who used the opportunity of the protest to loot some private and government properties across the country.

Also in the process, many properties were set ablaze including police stations, and a number of police personnel were killed.

This development has caused anxiety in the polity, with the police becoming reluctant to get back to work.
